Skiing on the Arlberg
Take a day out to follow the "Run of fame" from Hotel Adler to St. Anton and back. Ski Arlberg, one of the world's biggest ski areas.
Ski Arlberg: The history of skiing was written here. It’s the home of Olympic champions and ski pioneers, a veritable snow trap, with a high-tech network of lifts.
Reliable snow is a trademark of the Arlberg: on the Hochtannberg pass we get 10 metres of it on average every winter. That’s more than enough for the 80 lifts and cable cars ranging from 1,300 to 2,800 metres altitude, and for the 350 kilometres of pistes from Warth to St. Anton.
The first ski lift was built in Lech- Zürs in 1937 by the firm Doppelmayer. Nowadays we have all the very latest technology, which is revolutionising the world of skiing: continuous circuit gondolas; chairlifts with heated seats; and snow cannons, just in case someone, somewhere should be stingy with the snow rations!
