Ski touring on the Arlberg
We realise that nowadays guests expect more from a winter mountain holiday than just classical skiing; today they want to really experience the natural beauty of the Alps in other ways, and at other times of year.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS
Our ski area is one of the most up-to-date in the world, and enables you to reach the highest peaks comfortably and quickly. Climbing up to the Widderstein however, on the opposite side of the valley, takes a lot longer, and involves the expenditure of considerably more energy. But once you get there you will be rewarded with the heavenly sound of silence, and an exclusive, exhilarating descent on untouched, virgin slopes of powder or spring snow.
HOTELIER MARKUS IS AN EXPERT IN THIS FIELD
Having spent his childhood in the snow, and with over 20 years’ experience as a ski instructor and mountain guide, he shares his knowledge with Hotel Adler guests.
Each week Markus organises a free taster ski tour exclusively for guests of Hotel Adler.
Participating guests must have a good basic off-piste technique in varying snow conditions. It doesn’t matter whether you look good or not, it’s all about stability and safety.
And if that's not enough, the following events are also offered on a weekly basis:
- Snow shoe walk
- Full day off-piste ski tour on the Arlberg for experienced off-piste skiers
- Safety training with avalanche transceiver, airbag, shovel and probe
- The science of snow and avalanches - theory and practice
- Night-time ski tour
- Climbing on the east wall of the Adler
Each week 2 to 3 of these outings will be included in the programme, but will only take place if weather, snow and avalanche conditions are favourable. Please note that there can be absolutely no guarantee that these events will take place.
Ski touring equipment
If you don’t have any of your own, skis with touring bindings and skins can be hired at Sport Jug. Safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe) are supplied by us free of charge.
