Discovering snow and ice
It’s only frozen water, but it can provide huge amounts of fun! And not only for children! Could it be that, away from the mountains, winter is a thing of the past? Here it’s still alive and well and putting its best foot forward. Brilliant sunshine and glistening snowdrifts alternate with nightly blizzards during which quite a lot of snow can fall in a very short period. The force of nature is still very tangible.
Drag out the toboggans, bob sleighs and anything else good in the snow.
Igloos are being built, snowball fights are in full swing and huskies are gritting their teeth and dragging their sledges through the snow.
It’s the time for mulled wine and hot punch. And at night the mountains take on a completely new face, bathed in moonlight or under a star-studded sky. Listen to the snow crunching under your feet, or enjoy the rare sound of total silence.
Fly across the snow with the huskies
To be pulled across the snow by a team of dogs is every child’s dream. And you’re allowed to stroke them, too!
No winter holiday is complete without a tobogganing party!
The slopes from the Simmel down to the hotel are perfect for sledging, and this is where children always make their first trial runs on toboggans, bob sleighs and anything else that will slide.
Toboggans are available for hire free of charge in the Adler. And when the training sessions on the hotel slopes have completed, you can head for the two really long toboggan runs in Warth and Schröcken.
And what else is there to do involving ice around Hotel Adler?
Ice climbing, zip line cableways, rucksack bobsleighs, snow shoe walking, children’s skidoos on the Salober, scooters, tubing, geo-caching, igloo building, relaxing!
